For the past 25 years, Harvey’s “Shooter’s Touch” Academy has shared knowledge and wisdom about basketball, worldwide; through books, shooting videos and instructional posters for players in high school, college, WNBA, and the NBA. This academy, based in Kansas City, Missouri is led by Clyde Harvey who was a Junior College All-American, averaging 33 points per game, and was also inducted into the Junior College Basketball Hall of Fame. Since his playing days however, he has accumulated a trail of newspaper articles, compliments, for his ability to teach players to do what he did.
Today hundreds of athletes have left Harvey’s “private instruction” sessions with everlasting impressions. Players like 7’2” Adam, who came to Harvey without form or fashion. Going through one-on-one sessions with Clyde Harvey, soon got Adam to the point where he could play on a college basketball court. After this season, Adam will re-join Clyde for more one-on-one sessions before he leaves for Santa Barbara College in California.
Whether you are listening to Clyde teaching a player in a one-on-one session, or training a team, his mild-mannered approach attaches bright, innovative additions to a sturdy framework of life through basketball. He always has room in his plans to accept others on their own terms, as long as they are willing to be quality individuals, it won’t be a problem at all.
